Also known as the “Tea of Immortality”, kombucha is a popular probiotic drink with centuries of history behind it. Mythologically an “Eastern” drink and now regarded as a health drink by celebrities and athletes, kombucha is fermented with tea and sugar.
We're excited to partner with SG Fermentation Friends to host Asia's inaugural Kombucha Brew-Off competition on 12 May 2018. The objective is to raise awareness and proficiency of kombucha brewing in the region. Both Singapore and regional non-commercial submissions of tea and tisane entries are welcome.
Judges of the competition come from experts within the kombucha, coffee and beer realm including Melissa Mak, founder of Fizzicle Kombucha and SG Fermentation Friends, tea sommelier and blender; Christopher Leow, General Manager of Edible Garden City, coffee barista and chef; Daryl Yeap, BJCP certified judge and renowned home beermaker; and Alyson Lundstrom, owner and kombucha mistress of Blissful Bomboocha Macau.
Results will be announced on 12 May 2018 6PM. Stand to win attractive prizes including a prize mason cup (what else do fermenters want more)!
